In this book, the author supplies the how-to knowledge of weather theory, what causes weather and how it works, weather interpretation, reading weather reports, forecasting, weather flying, and applying weather information to your flight. The presentation aims to provide the pilot with the ability to continuously compare the official weather reports and forecasts with the actual weather observed enroute. One really nice feature of this book is the way that it relates weather phenomena to the jet stream; this is not often found in weather books as the background theory is relatively recent. Understanding the jet stream's function of piping moisture through the atmosphere is the key to understanding the present weather picture. Present weather presentation trends are heading toward real-time weather information, and this book attempts to bring all weather theory together much as would be done in a real-time system. |
