The Dalton-type E6-B flight computer is the standard manual navigation computer used in aviation, and
occasionally, by boaters. It calculates any rate problem (for example,
rate-of-climb, rate-of-fuel-consumption, rate-of-groundspeed. It also
calculates drift which you need to know if you're trying to figure out
where to point the nose of your craft.
These composite-fibre ASA models are more durable than you might think. They'll easily last through several years of flight training. By then you may want to get one of the electronic models. Added bonus: E6B's never need batteries! |
