Air Command Weather Manual

Typical illustration from text

This is a basic weather text from the Canadian Armed Forces Air Command. It's useful for preparation for the Canadian ATP licence, but it's not a very practical text for operational weather work because of its age. It's approximately 40 years old, and predates all of today's weather technology. It's a bit of an antique, but still useful for Canadian exam preparation. One of its main strengths for flight training purposes is that it's available in either French or English.

Each copy contains 2 CD's from Transport Canada containing a series of short 2-minute videos on various weather awareness topics such as "Wind Speed", "Ceilings", "Fog", and so forth. The video vignettes are designed to promote safe flight, and are not intended as flight training videos.

The same material with more up-to-date theory is contained in Weather Theory for Canadian Aviation Groundschools

All the weather material required for the Canadian ATPL is also contained in Canadian Professional Pilot Studies
