TheIFT-Pro PC software package has proved to be a
very useful IFR training package for DOS/Windows 3.1 users. It's
exceptionally useful for primary IFR training, including training
for night-flying. At one time, AOPA voted this as the best
of the IFR simulator packages. There are many new, slicker IFR sim
packages now, but this one still has a lot of useful life left in
it.
IFT-Pro is above all flexible. The same package that is used to brief you for your simulator training session can be used to mimic your working aircraft by simply re-arranging the panel instruments and controls. You can have endless setups saved to your system setup file. Different aircraft, different performance envelopes. All in the same package. It even mimics different instrument failure and weather scenarios! IFT-Pro is easy to fly; it can be flown without expensive extra control hardware. It works with a simple joystick, or even just the keyboard. It traces your flight path, and prints out progress sheets. The map database included in the demo Version 5.13 consists of only one airport. Optional regions are purchased separately. In our optional map data files for IFT-Pro, the northern USA regions also include your choice of either western or eastern Canada, which makes for easy cross-border flights. Eastern Canada extends from Hamilton to just east of St-Hubert, and down through the north-east states. Western Canada extends from Edmonton to Port Hardy, and down to Portland, Oregon. This is a real bonus because not all simulators include Canada. Note that these map data files are purchased separately, and include all navaids and airports. We recommend you download the demo (only one airport) version and try to get it runnning on your PC first. It runs great on Windows NT and DOS/Win 3.1 systems; it'll run on a Mac system using the DOS emulators. Win9x users may have to fiddle with their setup files. Installation notes are included below. If you can get it the demo running, order additional map areas (Canada & USA) from 1-800-567-3221. Windows 9x users might need additional installation notes if they haven't run a DOS PC flight simulator before. |
