Aircraft Corrosion Control

* This booklet assists the aircraft technician involved in airframe inspection and repair to understand the nature and consequences of corrosion of the metal structures being inspected or repaired. Corrosion is usually oxidation of lightweight, load-bearing metals. It destroys the structural strength of an aircraft. In order to be controlled, it must be prevented or repaired, but both alternatives are expensive. Therefore the technician must be able to thoroughly assess the corrosion threat. This book shows the basics of corrosion management. It is a shorter version of the FAA manual Corrosion Control for Aircraft (AC43-4A), but it has added self-testing features. Similar material is contained in AC43.13B Aircraft Inspection
