Canada's unique requirements for identical aviation publications in each of the official languages is the explanation for what appears to be a redundant exercise in textbook publishing. There's lots of good English language instructor texts available - most of which are more detailed than this basic reference. In fact, the previous edition was copied word-for-word from US sources! But there's not a lot available in the French language. Therefore book was written first in French, and then translated into English in order to meet Canada's bilingual requirements. It's required for Canadian flight instructors (who must teach the same principles in the same sequence, regardless of language). Woe to any Canadian flight instructor who tries to make up his own lesson plans! |
