A Pilot's Guide Series:
Original factory pilot operating handbooks are often 20 to 30 years old. That's when the last small Piper & Cessna training aircraft were produced. ASA wisely observed that the original POH's could be greatly improved and updated. These manuals, for example, describe all improved components and systems (components which have had to be modified in operational aircraft after extensive in-service analysis showed that original components needed modification). For example, defective Cessna seat adjuster tracks, about which nothing is said in the original Cessna manuals, have usually been modified in service. Also most older aircraft were designed originally to run on grades of fuel which are no longer available. All manuals (except the Tomahawk) have complete weight & balance and performance data, including Cruise Performance charts. NOTE: This is not an FAA-certified "AFM" (Aircraft Flight Manual). This is a ground-school manual for learning the basics of Robinson R22 systems and performance calculations. The manuals are provided since it's difficult for the average pilot to learn the basics of Robinson R22 systems and methods without an original AFM. However, they're not approved as an "AFM". |
