Nite Site Light

(Blue/Green)

* This is a particularly useful flashlight for commercial operations; it has both blue and white lights for those who prefer a blue light in the cockpit at night. It's a pocket-sized, machined aluminum, waterproof unit that runs on two AA batteries. It uses the same tiny krypton bulbs as the cheaper models like the ubiquitous Mag-Lite, and it keeps two spare bulbs in the end of the handle. The neat feature of the Nite Site Light is that it has a built-in blue/white filter. Unlike the other brands which have a removable blue filter that gets lost within a week, the Nite Site Light changes from blue to white simply by moving the focus ring backward.

The reasoning behind the colored flashlights is that the colored light exposes your eye to only a very narrow wavelength, thereby leaving the rest of the receptors in your eye relatively undisturbed. When you turn off the colored flashlight, the undistrubed receptors immediately pick up the vision load of your eye, and you can carry on your tasks without the usual momentary spotty vision.

A detachable lanyard is included with each flashlight, so you can wear the light around your neck for night operations (this is the best place to keep a flashlight during a night flight)!

This same light is also available in a red/white version for pilots with a different night-vision requirement.
