Once the aircraft is close to the airport, the
flight condition of the aircraft needs to be adjusted and
stabilized in order to allow the aircraft to softly come back to
earth. Too fast, and the aircraft will bounce back into the air,
flung upwards by its spring-steel landing gear. A bit crooked, and
the tires will be skidding or jerking sideways on contact with the
runway. Too slow, and the aircraft could drop unexpectedly,
bursting the tires and causing the passengers to doubt the
capabilities of the pilot. This is the part of the trip that
everyone remembers the longest. Everybody gets off on a good
landing. Nobody forgets a bad landing! See it all brought to life
on this close-up, hands-on video.
ATP's Flight Training Video Series, based on the Flight Training Manual, has been created by experienced flight instructors and airline pilots, and is especially useful for the primary phase of flight training, both for the Recreational Licence, and the Private Pilot licence. There are ten ½-hour videos in this series:
