The Major Overhaul

This is a guide to overhauling general aviation piston engines. The guide is a collection of useful hints collected by the author presumably during the time he has owned light aircraft. Many aircrfaft overhaul procedures are invented by rebuilders and fabricators, and the aircraft owner has very little opportunity to asses the validity of the various claims made by manufacturers. Ceramic/chrome cylinder plating processes for example, are notoriously unpredictable, and the aircraft owner will be required to make an intelligent assessment on very limited information. The engine owner must make scores of decisions of this type when contracting for an overhaul. While this book may not be entirely accurate in all its assessments, it does provide the aircraft owner with some useful guidelines when assessing an engine overhaul proposal.
