Aircraft Fuel Metering Systems
This manual describes basic aircraft fuel and fuel metering
systems. For enthusiastic pilots and mechanics, the text begins
with a description of all the key characteristics of an aircraft
fuel system. It then explains the operation of standard aircraft
carburetors, pressure carburetors (similar to GM "Throttle Body
Injection" systems), and fuel injection systems. Carburetors may
seem antique and quaint to modern pilots, but they continue to be
used in aircraft because of low-cost (compared to fuel injection)
and simplicity. Homebuilders, especially, will need to understand
the operation and maintenance of standard aircraft carburetors.
