The Helicopter Pilot's Handbook

Table of Contents!

This book was written for young career pilots, those who need to know how to get started in this most difficult career choice. Training requirements are presented, for both Canada and the USA, as well as apprenticeship requirements. Technically, there are no "apprentices" in aviation, but in reality there is a phase of the career selection process that resembles apprenticeship. The employer wants to get to know the new pilots up-close and in great detail. Before you can get your hands on their multi-million dollar machines, they want to know EVERYTHING about you!

This book also includes valuable employment screening and training information, as well as model-specific technical information on the Bell 206 and the AS350 (two of the most common small commercial machines). The R22 is covered, and the Bell 47 is mentioned in passing (it's fast becoming a collector's item). There's lots of really fascinating operational stuff, from flying cops with guns, carrying animals, searching, sick and dead people, and on and on. It's really fascinating reading even if you're not a helicopter pilot.

If you're into helicopters, this book will be a gift from heaven. You won't be able to put it down!
