The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual

Aircraft Systems CD-ROM

This is a bonus tool (included with the text) for assisting in understanding the many systems illustrated in The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual. It takes all the static illustrations and brings them to interactive life as only multi-media CD's can do. Narrated animations, color diagrams, and detailed photgraphs demystify the inner workings of every major jet and turboprop system. The CD-ROM addresses the following turbine aircraft systems for jets and turboprops. To review any given system, you simply click on type aircraft (jet or turboprop), and then click on the part of the aircraft which interests you, which takes you to individual system menus.
  1. Turbine Engine and Propeller Systems
    1. Introduction to Gas Turbine Engines
    2. Turbojet, Turbofan, and Turboprop Engines
    3. Thrust Reversers
    4. Turboprop Propeller Systems
  2. Turbine Aircraft Power Systems
    1. Basics of Aircraft Power Systems
    2. Electrical Power Systems
    3. Hydraulic Power Systems
    4. Pneumatic Power Systems
    5. Auxiliary Power Units=09
  3. Major Aircraft Systems
    1. Flight Controls
    2. Pressurization
    3. Environmental Systems
    4. Fuel Systems
    5. Electronic Cockpit Display Systems
  4. Dedicated Aircraft Systems
    1. Ice and Rain Protection
    2. Annunciator and Warning Systems
    3. Fire Protection Systems

This exciting new CD uses over 60 narrated animations, color diagrams, and photographs to illustrate the inner workings of jet and turboprop aircraft. The straightforward "how-things-work" approach is ideal for anyone who's ever wondered about how turbine aircraft work, including pilots and aviation enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels.

Just a few of the many topics included are jet and turboprop engines, flight controls, cockpit instrumentation, aircraft electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, APUs (auxiliary power units), pressurization and environmental systems, and fuel, fire protection, and deice/anti-ice systems.

To aid the reader, CD-ROM topics are keyed to book chapters and figures, so viewers can read about each system in the book, then see it in action on the CD-ROM.

The Turbine Pilot's Flight Manual Aircraft Systems CD is ideal for use both by individual users and as a classroom tool. It features pause and looping widgets that allow an instructor to expand on any topic at any time.

  • CD-ROM MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
    • PC: Windows 95/98/ME or Windows NT and double-speed CD drive.
    • MAC: 68040 or PowerPC, System 7, and double-speed CD drive.
    • Linux users can view the CD using a Windows emulator.

While each works wonderfully on its own, the book and CD also work very well together. CD illustrations and topics are keyed to those in the book so readers can cross-reference between book and CD if they want to. So if you read about something like flight controls in the book, and want to see how they work "in action", head on over to the CD for narrated, animated illustrations that make understanding really easy.

Incidentally, topic links on the CD change color after you view them, so it's easy to keep track of where you've already been on the CD, and what remains to be seen.
