JAR ATPL Training

JAR Ref 033: Flight Planning

This series of texts from Atlantic Flight Training (UK) is the complete course of study for the JAR ATPL set of exams. These "JAR OPS" texts are study guides and are not to be used as operational references. The philosophy of Atlantic Flight Training (AFT) is to train pilots to fly under JAA jurisdiction, not to simply pass the exams.

The JAR-ATPL candidate may sit the exams at any JAA-approved examination center. All candidates are required to bring a copy of the Student Route Manual, JAR VFR Supplement, and a JAR-compliant E6-B computer.

JAR Ref 033: Flight Planning

This volume is designed to teach the practical elements of flight planning and to provide a sound basis for the planning skills required as an Airline Transport Pilot. The learning objectives cover important elements such as fuel planning, the completion of flight plans, the interpretation of meteorological messages and the essential components of IFR Airways route planning. The practical elements of the course cover the application of this knowledge to single engine piston, multi-engine piston, and medium range jet transport aircraft through the Civil Aviation Authority JAR FCL Examinations Flight Planning Manual (UK CAP 697). It also covers the requirements of the course for IFR (Airways) and VFR planning.
