HS-1 Headset features:

  • Earcups of high-density acoustic foam for best passive noise attenuation
  • Noise attenuation of 23db
  • High fidelity speakers for clear, natural sound
  • Electret, noise-canceling microphone reduces background noise and allows clearest voice transmission
  • Gold-plated microphone and headphone plugs ensure best connection and resist corrosion
  • High-grade, multi-strand wire improves cable life
  • Stereo/mono capability
  • Large, dual controls for quick, easy volume adjustment of each ear
  • Microphone muff
  • Adjustable headband with easy thumb screws eliminates "hot spots" and accommodates eyeglasses and any head size
  • Quality foam ear seals and light weight add to overall comfort
  • Sleek, all-Black design with ASA silver wings silk-screened on each earcup
  • Sturdy and reliable - yet reasonably priced for maximum value
  • Weight=19 ounces in the USA (570 grams in the rest of the world)
  • Lifetime warranty (no other manufacturer gives such an extensive warranty)
The Lifetime warranty is particularly important to aviators in remote areas where service and repair for headsets may be impossible to obtain. David Clark headsets, for example, must be returned to a shop willing to handle the repair work, or to David Clark's US headquarters in the eastern USA. Flightcom headsets must be returned to Flightcom in Oregon, USA. ASA's HS-1 is a standard PMA-type military headset, built with parts adhering to the PMA/military standard parts schedule. This is the same parts specification used by 90% of the standard headsets in the world; therefore parts and service is not a problem. Furthermore, for the original owner, the HS-1 headset has an outstanding warranty and needs only to be returned to an ASA dealer for no-charge replacement in the event of a malfunction. Amazingly, the cost of an HS-1 headset is less than half the cost of an equivalent David-Clarke!

The HS-1 is offered in only the standard model; military adapters are available to connect the HS-1 to standard helicopter or Twin Otter jacks, and the HS-1 can be fitted with an add-on push-to-talk switch.

NOTE: The HS-1 headset is not recommended for conversion to ANR (Active Noise Reduction) specification. While most ANR conversions work just fine, it voids the Lifetime Warranty. Better to convert an out-of-warranty or broken-down David-Clarkheadset, and keep your HS-1 (with its unlimited lifetime warranty) for as long as you live.
